COTC runs approximately 330 flatbed trucks driven by professional flatbed drivers who are proud to drive for our fleet. To qualify for a flatbed driver job with COTC, drivers must meet or exceed the following qualifications:

  • Aptitude for the essentials of a flatbed driving position, including physical strength, mobility, & balance.
  • Ability to manage HOS using an electronic logging device.
  • Ability to operate a tractor-trailer safely during all hours, including daylight and night, as well as on side roads and highways.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to follow company policies, including fueling, routing, usage of equipment, and home time.

COTC’s one-on-one instructor training includes a driving test involving both daytime and nighttime driving, a physical capacity test, logging hours using a Geotab Android device, the ability to safely secure a load to a trailer deck, tarping the load, effectively storing tarps, and chaining tires.
